The existing floor of this high-tech laboratory was heavily worn. The client regularly repainted the floor themselves but each time it was only a matter of weeks before the paint started to peel off again, and this was unacceptable for hygiene, safety and aesthetic reasons. When previous floor paint systems start to fail they must be removed.
The floor was thoroughly diamond ground under vacuum. It was very important in a place with microscopes and expensive lab equipment that there was no airborne dust and Oasis have industrial triple-motor floor vacuums that keep the process dust-free.
Once prepared a two-coat epoxy paint system was applied. Minor defects were filled with repair mortar and expansion joints were repaired with a permanently flexible epoxy jointing compound. The topcoat (Resucoat HB) was chosen to match the organisational colour scheme and installed with a light anti-slip beading. This allows the company to comply with workplace legislation on slips and trips whilst still being very easy to clean.
