The canteen and toilet facility to this industrial setting had a mixture of broken terrazzo tiles and old vinyl tiles that were starting to come loose and looked dirty and unhygienic.
The tiles were removed, the latex ground off (under vacuum to ensure the process was dust-free), and concrete repairs carried out to produce a suitable base.
The skirting boards were degraded with rotting wood and trapped dirt in the floor/wall join. By installing a 150mm thixotropic cove detail to all the walls these problems have been eliminated and the new system now allows for easier and more effective cleaning. It can even be powerwashed during shutdowns - no other flooring type could tolerate repeated powerwashing.
The 3mm resin to the floor gives a smooth seamless floor providing a very hardwearing surface, and with the addition of a light scatter of special flakes a very attractive finish.
