The testing rig had been subject to a very harsh workload and the previous paint system had been worn away through a mixture of wear and tear and corrosion by hydraulic fluids. The frame had also been modified with new unpainted steels welded into place. Overall the rig was desperately in need of a thorough clean and a new durable protective coating.
All the surfaces were thoroughly washed down by hand using a specialist degreaser to remove the oils and contaminants. Loose paint was scraped, wire-brushed and sanded back to a feather-edge finish. The epoxy primer and epoxy paint system applied by brush and roller produced a hardwearing, oil resistant finish.
